ISTA wheat is a high-quality seed material whose quality is determined by international standards developed by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA). These standards include a set of criteria and evaluation methods aimed at assessing seed suitability for agricultural use. An important indicator is germination energy, which reflects seed viability; however, this parameter is not specified in the certificate, as seed quality is evaluated based on a combination of various characteristics studied in specialized laboratories.
For Ukrainian farmers, seed quality testing is a mandatory procedure before each planting campaign. Seed quality is assessed based on physical and variety characteristics, allowing determination of their suitability for planting or further sale. Laboratories accredited according to national standards conduct comprehensive tests on seeds of various crops, including wheat, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the results.
In addition, ISTA wheat is used to produce professional Italian hard wheat flour with a coarse granulometry. This flour, purified from foreign impurities, is ideal for making artisanal fresh bread and pasta. It is characterized by high protein content (12.5% on dry matter basis), dry gluten (11.5%), and a high gluten index (not less than 70), ensuring excellent technological properties. The flour has a yellow color and is packaged in 5 kg paper bags, with a storage period of 6 months under dry and well-ventilated conditions, away from heat sources.
