Winter wheat of the October variety is a fodder crop widely used in animal husbandry for producing compound feeds. It is distinguished by high carbohydrate, protein, and vitamin B and E content, making it a valuable plant feed for animals. Wheat is characterized by low grain moisture, not exceeding 15%, which facilitates its long-term storage and preservation of nutritional properties. Due to high yield, this variety is economically advantageous for cultivation and provides a stable income for agricultural producers. This wheat is suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including northern, southern, central, and western regions. Depending on sowing dates, the crop is divided into winter and spring wheat. Winter wheat has a long vegetation period, reaching about 250 days, while spring wheat has a shorter one, about 100 days. Optimal sowing dates for winter wheat in Ukraine fall between September 25 and October 5, while it is important to consider the availability of sufficient moisture and the features of the selected variety to achieve maximum yield. Wheat of the October variety possesses high adaptability to unfavorable conditions, including frosts and drought, as well as resistance to lodging and grain shattering. Medium-height crops reach a height of about 90 cm, which facilitates harvesting and processing.
