NOVOSIBIRSKAYA 49

Novosibirskaya 49 is a spring soft wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety developed by scientists at the Siberian Research Institute of Plant Breeding and Selection. This medium-early variety has a vegetation period of 79 to 88 days, allowing effective use in regions with short growing seasons. It is recommended for cultivation in the Irkutsk region, Krasnoyarsk region, as well as in the Republics of Chuvashia and Khakassia, confirming its adaptability to various climatic conditions of Siberia and the Volga-Vyatka region. Novosibirskaya 49 is distinguished by its high resistance to drought and lodging, ensuring stable yields even under unfavorable weather conditions. The variety is resistant to powdery and hard wheat heads, and has low susceptibility to brown rust and septoria, reducing crop losses and the need for frequent fungicide application. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 36 to 47 grams, with large grains and bulk density of 762–806 g/L, indicating high-quality raw materials. Additionally, Novosibirskaya 49 is characterized by excellent baking qualities due to gluten content at 25% and crude protein around 14%. The average yield of the variety over the years of testing was 3.5 tons/ha, with maximum indicators reaching 5.6 tons/ha. These characteristics make the variety attractive to agricultural producers focused on obtaining high-quality grain with high productivity and resistance to unfavorable factors.
