EKADA 258

EKADA 258 — a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of medium maturity, belonging to the lutescens subspecies. It is characterized by resistance to brown rust and moderate resistance to powdery and hard heads, ensuring reliable cultivation under various climatic conditions. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 36 to 43 grams, indicating good grain quality. Baking qualities of the variety are evaluated as satisfactory, making it suitable for the production of bakery products.

The variety is recommended for cultivation in several regions of Russia, including the Volga-Vyatskaya, Ural, Central, Kirov, and Orenburg regions. Average yield varies depending on the region: in the Volga-Vyatskaya region, it reaches about 34.4–37.2 c/ha, in the Ural region — 15.6–16.8 c/ha. The maximum recorded yield was 59.8 c/ha and was achieved in 2020 in the Sverdlovsk region. These figures indicate the high productivity of the variety under favorable conditions.

Studies conducted during the period 2020–2023 showed that EKADA 258 is among the varieties recommended for cultivation in the Volga-Vyatskaya region, but in terms of yield and stress resistance, it lags behind some other varieties, such as Ekada 214 and Nikon. Nevertheless, the variety maintains stability and adaptability to contrasting weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable yield of soft spring wheat.
