About product
A high-yielding Dutch potato variety requiring precise water management and balanced nutrient application.
Description
Agronomic Management and Dutch Breeding Potential
The potato variety SHS2030, introduced by IPR B.V. and registered in Ukraine in 2026, represents high-performance Dutch genetics. To achieve the yield potential inherent in this variety, growers must adhere to precise cultivation protocols tailored to local soil conditions.
Planting and Soil Requirements
SHS2030 performs best in well-aerated, light-textured soils. Planting should commence once soil temperatures at a depth of 10 cm reach +8...+10°C. An optimal planting density of 45,000–50,000 plants per hectare, typically using a 75 cm row spacing with 25–30 cm between tubers, ensures adequate space for uniform tuber development.
Growth Stage Management
- Emergence: Early weed control is essential. Pre-emergence harrowing helps maintain soil structure and eliminates early weed competition.
- Tuber Initiation and Bulking: This is the most water-sensitive phase. Maintaining soil moisture at 70–80% of field capacity is critical. Drip irrigation is highly recommended to prevent stress-induced yield loss.
- Maturation: Nitrogen application must cease before the tuber bulking phase to prevent excessive haulm growth. Potassium-focused fertilization is recommended to enhance tuber skin set and storage quality.
Proactive disease management, particularly against late blight and early blight, should be integrated into the spray program based on local weather modeling and canopy closure status. Proper desiccation of the haulm prior to harvest is essential for ensuring the skin is sufficiently set for mechanical harvesting and long-term storage.
