Potato Argana

European Breeding for Ukrainian Fields

The Argana potato variety is the result of extensive breeding efforts by the Danish company Danespo A/S. Its official registration in Ukraine in 2026 solidified its status as a promising asset for professional agribusiness. The inclusion of Argana in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine marks a significant step in the expansion of Danish genetics, which are specifically engineered for high adaptability to changing climatic conditions.

The Genetic Foundation of Danespo A/S

Danespo A/S, based in Denmark, is renowned for its rigorous approach to phytosanitary control and the development of varieties with high pathogen resistance. Argana was developed to meet the demands of the modern market, where both yield and tuber uniformity are paramount. Unlike many local varieties, Argana exhibits pronounced resilience to environmental stressors, making it a competitive choice for farms aiming to minimize risks across various soil and climatic zones in Ukraine.

Role in Crop Rotation

Integrating Argana into agricultural production cycles allows Ukrainian farmers to diversify their crop portfolios. The variety occupies a niche for high-yielding potatoes capable of maintaining quality during long-term storage. Due to strict breeding control by the rights holder, Argana's seed material meets high European quality standards, which is a critical factor for achieving predictable yields on an industrial scale.
