Sunflower Kaizer

Technological Profile of Sunflower «Kaiser»

The key feature of «Kaiser», which distinguishes it in the breeding line of Albert Nikolaevich Mandrov, is a systematic approach to crop protection during early vegetation stages. Unlike standard hybrids, the focus here is not only on yield but also on physiological resistance to a complex of soil and surface pests, which is critical for direct seeding or operations in high-infection zones.

Insecticidal Shield and Resistance

The genetic potential of «Kaiser» is designed to minimize losses from key agronomic threats. The selection process prioritized tolerance to the following types of pests:

• Soil-dwelling pests: High resistance to wireworms and ground beetles, ensuring the preservation of plant density.
• Foliar pests: The variety shows resistance to attacks by aphids, flea beetles, and weevils.
• Specific threats: Resistance to the Opatrum sabulosum, cereal flies, and the Colorado potato beetle reduces the need for additional insecticidal treatments during the growing season.

Practical Significance for the Agronomist

Patent holder Alexander Vladimirovich Polzikov (patent No. 592) focuses on crop autonomy. Using «Kaiser» allows the agronomist to reduce costs for fumigation and soil insecticidal protection. Reducing the reliance on pesticide load during the seed germination stage shifts the plant into a mode of active vegetative mass accumulation without wasting resources on «healing» damaged tissues. This makes the variety a reliable tool for farms aiming to reduce the cost per ton of commercial grain.
