Field Strategy for the Yola Variety

German breeding from NORIKA Nordring-Kartoffelzucht-und Vermehrungs GmbH has always prioritized adaptability, and Yola is a prime example. Amidst the climatic fluctuations typical of modern agriculture, this variety demonstrates high stress tolerance, making it a predictable tool for agronomists.

Response to Climatic Challenges

The key feature of Yola is its ability to maintain productivity during water shortages. The variety's genetic potential allows it to efficiently utilize short growing seasons, minimizing losses from summer heat. In field trials, the variety showed excellent resistance to secondary tuber growth, which is often a problem for other varieties during sharp temperature and humidity shifts.

Phytosanitary Profile

Yola possesses a balanced immune system that helps reduce pesticide application rates. Special attention is paid to resistance against:

• Late blight of foliage and tubers — the variety demonstrates high field tolerance.
• Viral diseases (PVY, PLRV), which is critical for maintaining the reproductive quality of seed material.
• Common scab and rhizoctonia, ensuring a marketable appearance even in challenging soil conditions.

Agronomic Recommendations

The variety is adapted to a wide range of soil and climatic zones. Thanks to a powerful root system and vigorous foliage development in the early stages, Yola closes rows quickly, suppressing weed growth. It is highly suitable for mechanized harvesting: the tubers have a firm skin and are resistant to mechanical damage, minimizing losses during transport and long-term storage. The official registration of the variety in Ukraine in 2026 opens new opportunities for farmers focused on stable, high-quality yields.
