The Gorfield sunflower hybrid is an intensive early-maturing variety, distinguished by high resistance to various diseases and pests. It is tolerant to seven races of downy mildew (A-G), resistant to white mold and false powdery mildew (race 330), and also tolerant to fomopsis. In field conditions, the hybrid shows weak infection by white, gray, and dry mold, moderate infection by rust and fomopsis, while being immune to verticillium wilt and alternaria. These qualities make Gorfield a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
The hybrid has a medium vegetation period of approximately 114-122 days depending on the region, ensuring early flowering and timely maturity. The 1000-seed mass varies from 54.4 to 69.5 grams, and the oil content in the seeds reaches 48.8-54.0%, providing high oil yield — from 8.4 to 15.5 centners per hectare. Plants have medium height, green leaf color with weakly expressed reticulation, no branching, and weak or absent marginal stripes on the seed coat.
The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem, North Caucasus, Lower Volga, and West Siberian regions, including Rostov, Volgograd, and Saratov Oblasts, as well as the Altai Krai. The optimal planting density prior to harvest is 50-55 thousand plants per hectare. Gorfield responds well to high agronomic input, enabling stable and high yields — average yield in the Central Chernozem region is 27.6 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 58.2 centners. Due to its agronomic and biological characteristics, the Gorfield hybrid is an effective solution for modern agricultural enterprises.
