Description
RSC BRIZ is an early-maturing hybrid sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) primarily intended for silage use. The plant is of medium height, without branching, with medium-sized green leaves having slight blistering. The ray florets are orange-yellow, while the tube florets are yellow without distinct anthocyanin coloring. The flower head is of medium size, oriented downward at maturity, with broadly ovate seeds having a black base color and gray stripes. The plant exhibits medium seed thickness and a flat seed surface.
The hybrid features high feed value: dry matter content in green mass during flowering ranges from 17.4% to 21.7%, mono- and polysaccharides — 6.8–7.4%, and crude protein in leaf-stem mass during milky-woody ripeness — 10.9–11.4%. Dry matter contains 9.4–10.3 mg/% carotene per kilogram, with lactic acid content reaching 4.2–4.5%. The oleic acid content does not exceed 0.5%, and digestible protein content is 7.6–8.0%. Approximately 2.77 feeding units can be obtained per hectare. Additionally, RSC BRIZ has high oil content: average oil content in seeds is 48.8%, with a maximum of up to 54.5%.
The hybrid is resistant to false powdery mildew but susceptible to downy mildew and phomopsis. It is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Central Black Earth, North Caucasus, and Lower Volga regions. RSC BRIZ demonstrates stable seed yield, reaching up to 37.4 c/ha in some cases. Due to its disease resistance and high productivity, this hybrid is a profitable choice for farmers targeting both feed mass and oilseed production.
