Description Lugovska
The Lugovskoy potato variety is a medium-maturing table variety of Ukrainian selection, characterized by stable high yield and good consumer qualities. The tubers have an oval shape with a blunt rounded top, light-pink glossy skin, and white flesh that does not darken after cutting and breaks apart easily when boiled. Tubers weigh between 83 and 165 grams, providing an attractive and marketable appearance. The starch content in the tubers ranges from 12 to 19%, making this variety suitable for making mashed potatoes and processing into starch.

The Lugovskoy variety is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 514 centners per hectare, and good storability — up to 97% — ensuring long-term storage without loss of quality. The maturity period is 70–80 days, and the dormancy period is average, allowing for pre-planting tuber heating for seed material preparation. Nitrogen fertilizers should be applied 30% less than usual for late varieties, with increased potassium fertilizer rates for optimal growth.

Lugovskoy is resistant to a range of pests and diseases, including the Colorado potato beetle, wireworm, and potato late blight, although it is susceptible to golden nematode. It also exhibits relative resistance to late blight on foliage and tubers, common scab, moderate resistance to viral diseases, and resistance to blackleg. Thanks to these characteristics and adaptability to various climatic conditions, this variety is widely used by farmers and hobbyists and is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia.
