Developed by the FRC Kazan Scientific Center of the RAS, the Kayo variety is a selection solution for producers focused on processing diversification. Kayo demonstrates high plasticity, combining the qualities of table potatoes with specific parameters for the industrial production of dehydrated potato flakes and chips.

Phytopathological Resistance as a Cost-Reduction Tool

A critical node in the efficiency of any potato production system is pathogen defense. The genetic code of Kayo contains built-in resistance mechanisms against key economically significant diseases:

• Potato Wart (Synchytrium endobioticum): complete immune protection, eliminating the risk of yield loss in contaminated soils.
• Common Scab (Streptomyces scabies): high field resistance maintains tuber marketability even under unfavorable soil hydrothermal conditions.
• Viral Complex: selection is focused on reducing susceptibility to mosaic agents and other viral infections, which is critical for extending the seed material reproduction period without degeneration.
