The DOMINGO ST sunflower is a bright and tall decorative plant, reaching up to 180 cm in height. Its velvety yellow blooms with a striking dark center distinguish this variety from others, making it an attractive element for creating decorative screens and living hedges in garden areas. Thanks to its height and vibrant appearance, the sunflower looks great in group plantings on lawns and retains its decorative appeal when cut, allowing its use for interior decoration and bouquets.
This sunflower is sun-loving and heat-loving, preferring open sunny spots protected from strong winds. For successful cultivation, well-drained, loose, and sufficiently fertile soils with neutral pH are required, as sunflowers do not tolerate acidic soils. The plant positively responds to regular watering, which promotes active growth and abundant flowering. For seed preparation, it is recommended to soak the seeds for one day in wood ash solution, which improves germination.
The DOMINGO ST sunflower is typically sown directly into open ground in May, after the end of persistent frosts. Seeds are planted at a depth of 3-4 cm, with spacing of 70x70 cm, 2-3 seeds per hole. At soil temperatures of +18…+25°С, seedlings emerge within 7-14 days. For earlier flowering, seedlings can be grown in peat pots, sown in early April, and transplanted into the ground at the end of May – June along with the pots. Flowering lasts from June to September, making this variety an excellent choice for long-lasting decorative effect in the garden.
