VOLGA 3

Rootstock "Volga 3" is a clone tree of apple (Malus Mill.) characterized by medium height and upright bush form. Shoots of medium vigor, rounded and hairy, have a predominant green coloration that ensures good photosynthetic activity. Buds are pressed, medium, and rounded, while leaves are elongated, obovate with short-toothed edges, light green, smooth, and matte. Leaves possess a concave blade and finely serrated edge, which promotes effective gas exchange.

In terms of agronomic characteristics, "Volga 3" is distinguished by high winter hardiness, as well as medium heat- and drought tolerance. Disease and pest resistance is at a high level, making this rootstock a preferable choice for horticulture and apple variety breeding. Thanks to compatibility with a wide range of varieties during budding (98–100%), the rootstock allows obtaining fruit trees with optimal growth and yield characteristics.

In practical application, "Volga 3" is widely used as a horticultural rootstock for apple grafting. It ensures good adaptation to various climatic conditions, as well as compatibility with other rootstocks, which allows creating hybrid varieties with improved properties.
