Bond sunflower is an early-maturing hybrid of Romanian selection from the company Quality Crops, designed for cultivation under herbicides based on tribenuron-methyl, such as Granstar. The vegetative period of the hybrid ranges from 105 to 110 days, allowing for a stable harvest within a short time frame. Plants reach a height of 140-157 cm, and the medium-sized, convex heads contain black seeds with gray stripes.
The Bond hybrid is characterized by high yield up to 4.7 t/ha (47 c/ha) and high oil content in seeds — from 49 to 52%. It possesses high resistance to various stress factors, including drought and lodging, as well as to common sunflower diseases. These include Phomopsis, rust, powdery mildew, gray mold (Botrytis), white mold of the head (sclerotiniosis), and downy mildew A-E. Additionally, the hybrid is resistant to sunflower rust and mole.
Due to its characteristics, Bond sunflower is ideally suited for cultivation in the forest-steppe and steppe regions of Ukraine. Its high adaptability to adverse weather conditions and disease resistance make this hybrid a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality, high-yield sunflower crops with high oil content.
