Sunflower Bug

Reliable Yields with Proven Resistance

Working with the «Bug» sunflower variety, developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute, offers a clear advantage for field operators looking for stability. This variety is a practical tool for those who prioritize economic efficiency and lower production risks over expensive, high-maintenance hybrids.

Operational Performance

With a vegetation period of 100–110 days, this variety fits perfectly into typical crop rotation schedules. From an operator’s perspective, it is very comfortable to handle during harvest: it features uniform ripening and excellent stalk integrity, preventing lodging even under adverse weather conditions. This means less downtime for equipment adjustments and lower harvest losses.

Disease Resilience

Management of pathogen pressure is usually the most expensive part of sunflower production. The «Bug» variety simplifies this by providing robust, built-in resistance to common regional diseases:

• White and Grey Rot: The plant effectively resists infection, keeping the heads intact even in high-humidity conditions.
• Phomopsis and Phoma: The variety demonstrates significant tolerance, reducing the need for intensive fungicide applications and protecting the overall yield potential.

By relying on the natural immunity of the crop, you optimize your chemical usage budget without sacrificing quality.

Commercial Value

The oil content of 50–55% ensures that this sunflower remains a high-demand commodity in the market. Its quality makes it easy to process at grain elevators—the seeds are uniform, clean, and stable during storage, allowing for efficient post-harvest handling. It is a no-nonsense, high-margin variety that is easy to manage from sowing to the final sale.
