The Burrma KLP hybrid is designed for stability in intensive farming systems, where protection against a broad spectrum of pathogens is the primary yield driver.

Phytosanitary resistance and genetic defense

The core advantage of Burrma KLP lies in its comprehensive tolerance to various fungal diseases that traditionally limit sunflower yield potential:

• Phomopsis and Phoma: Genetic markers within the hybrid effectively inhibit the development of these pathogens, which is critical under conditions of high humidity and crop density.
• Verticillium and Rust: A high level of resistance prevents premature leaf senescence, maintaining photosynthetic activity through to the grain-filling phase.
• Charcoal rot: Limagrain’s specialized selection process has equipped this hybrid with increased resistance to root rots, making it highly suitable for regions prone to drought and high temperatures.

Oil synthesis efficiency

The oil content, ranging from 50–55%, is achieved through optimized plant metabolism. Unlike average hybrids, Burrma KLP demonstrates stable lipid synthesis even under environmental stress. This high oil concentration is the result of focused breeding on enzymatic activity, allowing the plant to effectively accumulate oil during the grain-filling period.

Practical application of the Clearfield system

Systemic resistance to imidazoline-group herbicides (EURO-LIGHTNING technology) enables agronomists to control difficult weeds, including broomrape. The hybrid's internal biochemistry neutralizes the herbicide's effect without causing phytotoxic stress, which often leads to growth retardation or head deformation in less advanced varieties. For the farm, this translates into clean fields with minimal mechanical soil tillage, which is vital for moisture preservation.
