Diospyros 'Zolota' is a new variety that quickly gained popularity in the Ukrainian market thanks to its large flesh and rich taste. Fruits reach a mass of 100 to 400 grams, have a rounded-flattened shape, thin skin, and seedless structure. Appearance is characterized by dark orange color with a slight waxy bloom, and upon ripening, golden hues that make the fruit especially attractive.
The variety is distinguished by high yield: from 65 to 95 kilograms of fruits per tree. Fruits are stored for 1–1.5 months, and transportability and storability allow storage until December inclusive. Diospyros 'Zolota' shows excellent frost resistance – from -22 °C to -29 °C, which makes it suitable for growing even in colder regions.
For successful growth, plants should be planted on sunny, wind-protected sites. The tree bark is light gray with longitudinally dissected spines, leaves are green and ovoid, sometimes susceptible to fungal damage. The variety is suitable for both home gardens and commercial cultivation: it is self-fertile, begins fruiting in the third year after planting, and can also serve as a pollinator for other fig cultivars.
The taste of the fruits is sweet, aromatic, with a delicate texture. Thanks to its structure, Diospyros 'Zolota' is ideal as a dessert fruit, as well as for technological processing and drying, making it a versatile product in cooking.
