Star

"Star" persimmon variety – a hybrid obtained by crossing Batumian II and Fuyu varieties. The tree is of medium height with a semi-spherical crown, approximately 2.7 m high and about 3.1 m wide. The trunk bark is gray, with not deep longitudinal reticulation, and branches depart from the trunk at a right angle, creating a neat crown structure.

The fruits are of medium size, round in shape, and usually weigh from 60 g to over 200 g. The fruit skin is thin, dense, and smooth, shiny with a waxy coating, colored bright orange. Upon ripening, the flesh becomes red-orange, juicy-paste-like, slightly fibrous, and extremely sweet – reaching a taste rating of 5 points. Inside the fruit is a cylindrical yellow core, and seeds are moon-oval, brown with a beak.

"Star" is considered an early-ripening dessert variety: fruiting begins in late September and continues until the beginning of the third week of October. Fruits maintain freshness and transportability until December, making them convenient for sale and storage. The yield of the tree is from 45 kg to 90 kg of fruits per tree, and about 250 c/ha under optimal growing conditions. The variety is distinguished by good drought and heat load resistance, as well as high sugar content (about 20%) and vitamin C (approximately 42 mg).
