Peony SERGEY USPENSKY PEONY

A mix of aesthetics and hardiness

The 'Sergey Uspensky' peony is a highlight of the Moscow State University Botanical Garden selection. It demands respect and proper technique, but rewards the grower with exceptional blooms.

Cultivation and maintenance

This variety requires a solid foundation. Planting it in poor soil is a recipe for weak blooms. To achieve those signature large, pink, double-flowered heads, we recommend preparing a planting pit rich in organic matter. Drainage is non-negotiable; waterlogging at the roots is detrimental to this peony.

• Light Requirements: Strictly sunny locations. In partial shade, the stems tend to stretch, losing their structural integrity, and flowering becomes lackluster.
• Care: The bush is vigorous and requires timely staking. The heavy, double blooms are prone to nodding after rain, so supports are not just aesthetic—they are necessary to preserve the plant's form.
• Winter Hardiness: Bred for northern climates, this variety is highly resilient. It requires minimal winter protection, though mulching the root system is a recommended standard practice.

'Sergey Uspensky' does not tolerate neglected agrotechnics, but with consistent watering and balanced fertilization, it produces flawless, dense flowering. It is a reliable choice for gardeners looking for high-class breeding that competes well with global varieties.
