Description MOSCOW UNIVERSITY
Paeonia suffruticosa cultivar 'MOSCOW UNIVERSITY' is a sprawling bush about 90 cm high with strong stems that tend to droop. The leaves are large, dark green with an anthocyanin coloration on the edges, giving the plant a decorative appearance. The flowers are semi-double, large, 20-25 cm in diameter, pale pink with a fuchsia spot at the base of the petals and ruffled edges. The staminal filaments are colored magenta, and the anthers are yellow. Flowering occurs in late May and lasts for about ten days.

This cultivar is distinguished by high resistance to diseases and good winter hardiness, making it an excellent choice for decorative garden landscaping and cut flowers. Thanks to its large and spectacular flowers, the 'MOSCOW UNIVERSITY' peony can become a bright accent in any landscape design.

Tree peonies are native to China, where they were initially used in medicine and later became a symbol of wealth and longevity, receiving the honorable title of "emperor's flowers". At the Moscow State University Botanical Garden, these plants are grown from seeds in a nursery, where they grow slowly and receive their name before taking a permanent place in the garden. This approach ensures healthy development and high quality of plants.
