RED RED ROSE

The Peony cultivar Red Red Rose is an interspecific herbaceous hybrid created based on lactiflora 'Adolphe Rousseau' and 'lobata of Perry'. This variety is distinguished by a medium flowering period, usually occurring on the sixth week, and belongs to the category of strongly fragrant peonies with a rich and pleasant scent that fills the surrounding space. The blooms are semi-double, approximately 16 cm in diameter, consisting of 20 petals arranged in 3-5 rows. The petals have a bright burgundy-red color with a small light stripe at the base, which gives the flower special expressiveness. In the center of the flower, there is a ring of stamens on pink filaments with yellow anthers and three hairy pale yellowish-green carpels with red stigmas.

The peony bush is vertical, reaching a height of about 85-90 cm, with sturdy stems, making it ideal for growing cut flowers. The foliage is glossy, dark green with a slight blue tint, the upper leaves are lobed, and the side buds are absent, which contributes to the formation of large and impressive flowers. The medium flowering period allows using this variety for garden decoration during the active flowering period.

For successful cultivation of the Red Red Rose peony, it is recommended to choose a sunny, wind-protected location with drained or slightly elevated soil. Optimal soils are loams with added humus, compost, sand, as well as fertilizers such as superphosphate and potassium sulfate or wood ash. Planting should be done observing the correct depth and nutrition to ensure normal development and abundant flowering. Peonies of this variety are sufficiently frost-hardy and do not require mounding; with proper care, they can grow in one place for more than 20 years.
