Maize ASTRINGA

Reliable Yields in Challenging Conditions

The Austrian selection from RWA Raiffeisen Ware Austria, represented by the "Astringa" hybrid, stands out as a dependable "workhorse." It is a variety that forgives minor agronomic oversights and performs consistently even under adverse weather conditions.

Field Performance and Resilience

Disease pressure is the primary concern for any agronomist. Astringa is remarkably predictable in this regard. The plant structure is strong and lodging-resistant, which makes the harvesting process significantly smoother and minimizes grain loss. Furthermore, its resistance to the European corn borer helps optimize insecticide costs.

Key Technical Specifications

• Hybrid Type: Simple dent corn hybrid. The grain demonstrates excellent dry-down properties, which is crucial for reducing post-harvest drying costs.
• FAO and Maturity: With an FAO of 1240 and a maturation period of 120–140 days, it offers a balanced growth cycle suitable for efficient grain production.
• Harvesting: Engineered specifically for high grain yields, this hybrid features a sturdy stalk and a well-developed root system, ensuring nutrient intake even in moderate drought conditions.

Working with this hybrid is straightforward because of its predictability. It isn't a "fussy" variety that requires laboratory-like conditions; rather, it is a reliable tool for any farmer aiming for high-quality yields. When managed with appropriate plant density, Astringa delivers an impressive threshed grain volume with high kernel density.
