Taresco F1 Onion — a medium-maturing hybrid of semi-sharp bulb onion, developed by the Dutch seed company Hazera. The vegetation period is approximately 120 days from emergence of seedlings to formation of marketable bulbs. The plant features a strong root system and well-developed leafy apparatus with a strong waxy coating, contributing to its resistance and high yield quality. Bulbs have a round shape with a thin neck, diameter ranging from 70 to 85 mm, and weight up to 160 grams. Outer scales are dense, light-brown or golden-orange, giving the onion an attractive market appearance.
The Taresco F1 hybrid exhibits high resistance to Fusarium, root rot, bolting, and sprouting, significantly simplifying storage and transportation. The onion is characterized by excellent bulb uniformity and tightly adhering outer scales, making it suitable for mechanized harvesting. Thanks to its high resistance to sprouting during storage, the onion retains its quality for up to 10 months, allowing for extended marketing periods, including storage under controlled conditions.
The flavor profile of Taresco F1 onion is characterized by a distinct semi-sharp taste with mild sweet notes. The onion is crisp and juicy, making it ideal for fresh consumption, such as in salads, as well as for use after thermal processing, adding a spicy note to dishes. The recommended sowing rate is 1.0–1.1 million seeds per hectare, ensuring optimal plant density and high yield.
