Calypso onion is a late hybrid of bulb onion with a maturation period of 120-125 days. The medium-stature plant has a well-developed root system, ensuring its resilience and good growth. The bulbs are round, dense, and uniform in size, with dark copper or dark brown scales that exhibit high marketability and an attractive copper hue. The weight of a single bulb can reach up to 200 grams, and the dry matter content is about 14%, making this variety juicy and flavorful.
The Calypso hybrid is characterized by high adaptability in cultivation and flexibility in sowing dates, allowing successful cultivation in various regions, including all regions of Ukraine. The onion responds well to mineral fertilization and is suitable for mechanized harvesting. Thanks to its high marketability and uniformity, this variety is ideal for fresh market supply and long-term storage, with a storage life exceeding 7 months.
Special attention has been paid to the variety's disease resistance: Calypso shows tolerance to fusarium, bacterial diseases, and drench rot, significantly reducing yield losses and enhancing cultivation reliability. Seeds of this hybrid are intended for open-ground cultivation and guarantee compliance with stated characteristics and quality.
