Oats of the Tajezhnik variety are an early-ripening spring variety with an early maturity period, with a vegetative period ranging from 68 to 91 days. The plant is of medium height with a moderate number of leaves, exhibits high resistance to lodging, and possesses large, thick-grained seeds of bright yellow color. The mass of 1000 seeds is approximately 37.7 grams, and protein content reaches 14.6%, making this variety valuable in terms of quality for grain-forage use.
The variety belongs to awnless oats and is characterized by high drought resistance, confirmed by successful cultivation in various regions of Western and Eastern Siberia, including Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, and Omsk Oblasts, as well as the Republic of Altai, Tomsk, and Tyumen Oblasts. The plant has an upright habit, the panicle is contracted, unilateral, white with a yellowish tint. Grain bulk density ranges from 460 to 520 g/l, and awnlessness is high — from 28 to 31%.
Despite general resistance, the Tajezhnik variety is susceptible to certain diseases: it is weakly affected by powdery smut and cockle, but is more susceptible to bacterial blight, crown rust, stem rust, and the Hessian fly. Yield of the variety under favorable conditions reaches 27.7 centners per hectare, which exceeds the indicators of several standard varieties. Due to its agronomic characteristics and grain quality, oats of the Tajezhnik variety are a promising choice for grain-forage production in the Siberian region.
