Pumpkin Hybrid 72

Field Performance of "Hybrid 72"

When working with "Hybrid 72" from the M.I. Vavilov Poltava Institute of AIC, farmers focus on the unique geometry of the fruits. The cylindrical shape with a pronounced thickening at one end requires careful handling during harvest to avoid skin damage. With an average fruit weight of 1–2 kg, this pumpkin falls into the 'portion-sized' category, which simplifies logistics and kitchen processing for the end consumer.

Maintenance and Shelf Life Considerations

The key operational challenge with this variety is its poor shelf life. If your business model relies on long-term storage, this is not the right fit, as the fruits degrade relatively quickly after harvest. The optimal strategy is to sell the crop immediately upon harvesting. It is a 'fast-moving' product that thrives in markets requiring fresh produce during the main harvest window.

• Weight: Compact 1–2 kg, ideal for retail sales.
• Geometry: Elongated cylinder with a thickening, making it easy to slice into portions.
• Timeline: A seasonal crop designed for quick turnover rather than storage.

We recommend this hybrid for growers focused on direct-to-consumer sales, where the small fruit size and culinary convenience are the primary selling points.
