KRASNOYARUZSKAYA 2 is a variety of variable alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. nothosubsp. varia) intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the North-West, North-Caucasus, Central-Volga, Lower-Volga, and Ural regions. The plant is characterized by medium height in spring, semi-erect bushes, and a light green leaf color. The central leaflet has medium length and width, ensuring good leaf mass. The variety's flowers are predominantly blue-purple, while plants with very dark, cream, white, or yellow flowers are rare or absent.
The variety demonstrates high dry matter yield, reaching from 63.3 to 89.0 centners per hectare in various regions, exceeding standard indicators. Maximum yield can reach 123.7 centners per hectare. Additionally, the variety is distinguished by high protein content in plant mass—up to 12.5%, and protein collection is about 2.8 centners per hectare, making it valuable for fodder purposes. During trials, the variety showed disease resistance, which increases its reliability and reduces the need for applying protective agents.
KRASNOYARUZSKAYA 2 is actively used in agricultural bio-intensification systems, particularly in the Belgorod region, where effective methods of selection and seed production have been developed based on ZAO 'Krasknoyaryuzskaya Grain Company'. The variety fits well into grass seeding programs and contributes to sustainable commercial alfalfa seed production and other grasses, ensuring stable quality and high productivity of the fodder base.
