Alfalfa Amaga

Optimizing Forage Production with Amaga Alfalfa

Amaga alfalfa, developed by the Iksgp Naan breeding center, is a reliable choice for commercial farms in Ukraine looking to maximize forage quality and yield. With a plant height of 70–90 cm, this variety is engineered for consistent growth and rapid regeneration following cutting.

Field Performance and Management

• High-Intensity Harvesting: The variety's resilience allows for 3–4 cuts per season, essential for operations balancing intensive grazing and mechanical harvesting.
• Forage Quality: Excellent leaf-to-stem ratio ensures higher protein content, making it an ideal candidate for high-quality silage or haylage production.
• Crop Cycle Efficiency: Predictable growth rates allow farm managers to schedule machinery operations efficiently, reducing downtime during peak harvesting windows.

For growers, Amaga provides a consistent stand that adapts well to various soil types within Ukraine. Its capacity to recover quickly after mowing helps maintain a continuous feed supply throughout the growing season. By integrating Amaga into the forage strategy, producers can ensure a high-quality nutritional base for livestock while maintaining soil fertility through the natural nitrogen-fixing properties of this legume.
