Waterplay

The 'Waterplay' flax variety is a technical variety intended for producing flaxseed oil with a high linolenic acid content — over 70%. Plants reach an average height of 54–60 cm, the 1000-seed weight is 7.5–8.0 g, and oil content in seeds ranges from 48 to 50%. The potential yield of this variety reaches 2.0–2.5 tons per hectare. This variety is characterized by resistance to lodging and shattering, making it suitable for mechanized cultivation. 'Waterplay' is recommended for cultivation in all soil-climatic zones of Ukraine, confirming its adaptability and reliability. Moreover, the 'Waterplay' variety has a medium maturity period — 87 to 89 days — and exhibits good resistance to drought and cold. Flowers have medium-sized blue petals and blue stamens, while seeds are of medium brown color. The well-developed root system improves soil structure and aeration, making this variety useful not only for oil production but also as a green manure crop. When used as green manure, 'Waterplay' contributes to soil enrichment, erosion protection, and weed control. For cultivation, early spring or autumn sowing is recommended, provided the soil has adequate moisture. The optimal time for soil incorporation is after plants reach a height of 30–40 cm or at the onset of flowering. Due to its technological characteristics and versatility, the 'Waterplay' variety is a profitable choice for farmers aiming for efficient and ecologically sustainable agriculture.
