Tulip Barcelona

Technical Potential of the 'Barcelona' Hybrid

The 'Barcelona' Triumph tulip represents a breeding solution aimed at professional cultivation in temperate climates. The hybrid is engineered to balance stalk rigidity with resistance to a wide range of pathogens, which is critical for producing premium-grade cut flowers.

Phytosanitary Profile and Durability

The core mechanical feature of this variety is its genetic resistance to major industrial floriculture threats. Resistance to Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum) is achieved through high bulb cell wall density, minimizing decay risks during moisture fluctuations. A comprehensive immunity to anthracnose and downy mildew reduces the need for fungicide treatments during the vegetative phase, effectively lowering production costs.

Morphology and Growth Cycle

• Type: Triumph — a combination of classic goblet shape and the mechanical strength required for logistics.
• Blooming Period: Late-flowering, extending the market sales window beyond the early mass-market season.
• Height: Tall stature — ensures long, durable stems highly sought after in professional floristry.
• Color: Deep lilac hue with high pigment stability under UV exposure.

The practical value of 'Barcelona' lies in its developmental predictability. The bloom retains its goblet shape until late stages of maturation, while its resistance to powdery mildew ensures the foliage remains ornamental—a crucial factor for the final retail presentation.
