Hiawatha lilac is a powerful shrub reaching up to 3.5 m in height and 2–3 m in width, quickly forming a wide-pyramidal or spreading shape. Its canes are dark brown, while the buds are round and pink, with tubes twice as long as the heads, creating an impressive look even before flowering begins.
Flowering of «Hiawatha» starts at the end of May and continues until early June. The inflorescences are dense, drooping, 10–15 cm long, with densely deep pinkish-red small (up to 0.8 cm) flowers whose petals curve downwards into a triangular shape. The scent is strong and fragrant, making the shrub popular for creating aromatic borders and decorative compositions.
The product is characterized by high frost resistance – up to -40 °C, is resistant to diseases and pests, and grows quickly, allowing it to be used as a living hedge. Young plantings require winter covering, but after adaptation it becomes a reliable element of the landscape in any middle latitudes.
