Lilac "Beauty" – one of the most famous and revered varieties of double lilac in the world. The variety was bred by Leonid Alexeyevich Kolesnikov in 1943–1947 after cross-pollination of varieties I.V. Michurin and Nancy Beauty. Thanks to this hybrid, large, fragrant flowers of an unusual color were obtained, which gradually change the intensity of color from pink-lilac to pearl-white with a pink blush, and by the end of flowering become almost snow-white.
The lilac flowers "Beauty" have a double structure and a diameter of about 2.5–3 cm. They are gathered in dense racemes about 25 cm high and 12 cm wide, which gives the bush a impressive look. The plant is medium-sized: height reaches 4 meters, and crown width – about 3 meters. Root system is fibrous and superficial, leaves are large, glossy and egg-shaped.
The variety is characterized by high frost resistance, drought resistance and resistance to diseases and pests. It grows well in semi-shade, but for abundant flowering a well-lit area is required. Flowering begins in late spring – early summer and lasts for a long time, providing the garden with a bright and fragrant decoration throughout the season.
