Lettuce Traject

The Benchmark for Premium Lollo Rossa

The Dutch breeding expertise of Rijk Zwaan has consistently set standards in the leafy greens segment, and the 'Traject' variety stands as a cornerstone of their focus on high-quality production. As a signature Lollo Rossa type, 'Traject' has built a solid reputation among professional growers as a reliable choice for achieving consistent, deep-red yields.

Agrotechnical Performance

The development of this variety was centered on achieving operational stability. In intensive farming environments, 'Traject' demonstrates remarkable plasticity. Key features that solidify its market position include:

• High Resistance: Significant genetic resistance to Downy Mildew (Bremia lactucae), which drastically reduces the risk of crop loss during high-humidity cycles or temperature fluctuations.
• Visual Appeal: A deep, vibrant dark-red color that remains consistent throughout the growth cycle, ensuring the product maintains its premium look on retail shelves.
• High Productivity: Forms a large, dense, and heavy rosette that is resilient enough for efficient harvesting and transport without compromising leaf integrity.

'Traject' integrates seamlessly into industrial crop rotation cycles. It does not just provide volume; it produces a high-value item that attracts customers through its superior color and density, while maintaining excellent shelf life. For farmers targeting fresh produce markets, this translates into lower logistics-related waste and improved retail partnerships.

Market Positioning

Choosing 'Traject' is a decision for predictability. In a modern market that demands impeccable product aesthetics with minimal chemical intervention, the genetic durability provided by Rijk Zwaan becomes a critical economic advantage. It is a variety for growers who recognize that seed quality is an investment that pays off through higher marketable yields and a significant reduction in waste due to disease.
