Eggplant Baikal F1

Technical Profile of the "Baikal F1" Hybrid

The breeding of the "Baikal F1" hybrid by the Gavrish company aims to solve the primary challenges of greenhouse vegetable production: ensuring high marketability of fruits while maintaining genetic resistance to pathogens. Leveraging the expertise of the Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding, this cultivar combines vigorous growth with stable, high-yield performance in controlled environments.

Fruit Morphology and Commercial Value

The fruit geometry of Baikal F1 is engineered to satisfy strict market standards:

• Shape: Distinctively cylindrical, facilitating efficient packaging and logistics.
• Weight Metrics: Stabilized between 320–370 grams, providing the ideal commercial caliber for both retail and wholesale channels.
• Dimensions: A length of 14–18 cm allows for optimal utilization of crate capacity.
• Color: Deep dark purple hue, signaling high anthocyanin concentration and superior shelf-life stability.

Agronomic Advantages

A critical component of this hybrid's resilience is its innate resistance to Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV). In greenhouse conditions, where microclimates favor rapid pathogen proliferation, built-in genetic immunity is an essential risk-mitigation tool. The plant demonstrates excellent adaptability to greenhouse environments, efficiently channeling nutrients into the development of heavy, uniform fruits without compromising the vegetative health of the plant during peak harvesting periods.
