Cheryl F1 is a medium-maturing hybrid developed by the Dutch seed company Rijk Zwaan. The fruit ripens in 70 to 80 days after transplanting. The plant is sturdy, compact, moderately leafy, with a strong root system, providing high resistance and adaptability to various weather conditions and agronomic practices. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under cover, and can withstand high planting densities up to 40,000 plants per hectare. Medium-height plants require staking only during heavy fruiting.
The fruits of Cheryl eggplant have a round-oval shape, measuring 11 to 17 cm in length and about 12-14 cm in diameter, weighing between 500 to 700 grams, sometimes up to 1 kg. The fruit skin is dense, glossy, and a deep purple-black color, providing excellent protection for the flesh. The flesh is creamy-white, firm, free of bitterness, with a small number of seeds and a mild mushroom-like flavor, along with a pleasant aroma. These characteristics make the harvest highly valuable both in terms of commercial quality and taste.
Cheryl F1 hybrids exhibit high resistance to fungal, viral, and bacterial diseases of solanaceous crops, significantly simplifying care and increasing yield. The fruits withstand transportation and long-term storage, making them popular for supermarket distribution. They are versatile in use: suitable for making caviar, salads, ragout, grilling, as well as for canning and freezing, expanding their applications in culinary and food industries.
