CHAKONERA — an early variety of Iceberg-type lettuce, designed for cultivation in hot conditions. The plant is characterized by a compact form and forms a dense head with good closure of the upper leaves, which protects the inner part of the lettuce. Leaves are thick, greyish-green in color, without anthocyanin pigmentation, giving the lettuce an attractive appearance and high quality.
The variety is characterized by high growth vigor and good uniformity, which makes it convenient for growing and harvesting. The lettuce head has a round shape with a diameter of 15-16 cm and a height of 16-19 cm, corresponding to the Iceberg variety standards. Thanks to these characteristics, CHAKONERA is suitable for obtaining a stable and quality yield in various climatic conditions.
Special attention is paid to the variety's resistance to diseases: CHAKONERA possesses resistance to downy mildew (Pcu) with a level of 16–36 EU and to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV) with a level of 1. These properties make the variety a reliable choice for farmers seeking to minimize crop losses and reduce the need for the application of chemical plant protection agents.
