The 'Salavat' lemon is a large remontant citrus tree variety that reaches heights of 2.5 to 3.5 meters in open ground and can be height-restricted when grown indoors. The bark is olive-gray, the shoots are curved, and the leaves are large, broadly oval, glossy, and green with serrated edges. The flowers are white or pale pink, up to 3 cm in diameter, and have a pleasant aroma.
The 'Salavat' lemon fruit is characterized by an oval shape, golden-yellow smooth skin, and juicy yellowish-cream pulp. The average fruit weight is 350 to 400 grams, but can reach 800 grams under favorable conditions. Inside, there is about 30% juice and vitamin C, making them valuable for fresh consumption and for making jam, candied fruits, and other products.
Tree care is simple: the plant tolerates temperature fluctuations in central Russia well, is cold-resistant, and thrives in high humidity. Indoor specimens require good lighting (east or south), a temperature of 17–25 °C, regular watering when the topsoil dries out, and maintaining air humidity by misting or using a humidifier. It fruits from the third year of life, can yield twice a year, and easily withstands repotting every 1–3 years and moderate pruning in winter and spring.
The variety is resistant to phytophthora, scab, root rot, and gummosis, but can be attacked by mealybugs, aphids, armored scales, and spider mites. Due to its high yield (up to 29 kg per mature tree) and good transportability, the 'Salavat' lemon is popular among gardeners across Russia.
