Astilbe 'Catleya' – a perennial shrub up to 90 cm tall, characterized by bright pink panicle inflorescences that appear in late June and bloom until early July. The inflorescences are gathered in dense rhombic groups about 23–27 cm long, while the stems reach 70–80 cm. Leaves grow green in spring with a brown edge, are located close to the root, and have long petioles.
The plant prefers semi-shaded areas and well-drained soil rich in peat, compost, or rotted manure. It does not require strict soil conditions but grows best in light, prepared substrates. 'Catleya' is resistant to soil moisture and can grow in areas with high water levels.
For planting, spring or late summer is recommended; the plant also suits beds, rabatkas, and group compositions. Due to its decorative shape and easy care program, 'Catleya' is often used in garden design as a cutting element. During the winter period, bushes may require slight protection from severe frosts, however, they remain relatively undemanding and easily adapt to various growing conditions.
