The Red Fantasy potato is a medium-ripening German table variety with a vegetative period of 90-110 days. The plants are medium or sometimes tall, with relatively few large light-green leaves. The flower cluster consists of bright pink-purple flowers. Tubers have an elongated-oval shape with red skin, and the average weight of one tuber ranges from 92 to 140 grams. The flesh is intensely yellow, dense, slightly resistant to softening during boiling, and does not darken, making this variety suitable for various culinary purposes — from soups and boiling to frying, mashing, and baking. The taste of the potato is rated as good with a mild sweetness, and the starch content varies from 13.5 to 21.5%, allowing its use in dietetic nutrition and for feeding children. Red Fantasy is characterized by high yield — under proper agronomy, 10-12 tubers can be harvested per plant, and 256 to 393 centners per hectare of marketable yield. The variety is well adapted to Ukrainian conditions, drought-resistant and tolerant to water deficiency, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various regions of the country. The potato exhibits high resistance to several diseases, including potato scab, golden cyst nematode, common scab, black leg, as well as leaf curl and tobacco mosaic viruses. Moderately resistant to late blight of foliage and tubers, the variety also features excellent storability — up to 95% — and high transportability, enabling long-term storage and transportation over long distances without loss of quality. In addition to high agronomic characteristics, Red Fantasy is valued for its beneficial properties. The potato is rich in vitamins and minerals, including copper, iron, manganese, potassium, as well as B6 and C vitamins, which support brain function and overall health. Regular consumption of this variety may contribute to improved memory and increased activity. Due to its dense flesh and rich flavor, oven-baked Red Fantasy with a small amount of salt becomes not only delicious but also beneficial for the whole family.
