Description Neptun
The Neptune potato variety is an early-maturing table variety with a maturation period of about 65-70 days. Plants are of medium height, intermediate type, with a spreading bush form and large green leaves with wavy edges. Flowers are white, with medium to large corollas. Tubers are oval or elongated-oval, with small eyes, smooth yellow skin, and light-yellow or white flesh. The mass of marketable tubers ranges from 92 to 182 grams, with 7-10 tubers per plant. Starch content ranges from 11.1-15.0%, corresponding to the culinary type AB, suitable for salads, soups, and frying.

The Neptune variety has high and stable yields, reaching 186-280 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 330 centners per hectare. Tubers have a marketability of 86-94% and storability of 95%, ensuring good product preservation. The variety is characterized by early tuber formation and rapid yield accumulation in the first half of the vegetation period, allowing its use for early harvests when sprouted. Recommended planting density depends on soil type and cultivation goals, ranging from 40 to 68 thousand tubers per hectare.

The Neptune potato exhibits resistance to potato scab and high resistance to viral diseases. However, the variety is moderately susceptible to late blight of leaves and tubers, and is prone to infection by common and golden potato cyst nematodes. The variety is well-adapted to cultivation on light and medium-textured soils and positively responds to increased mineral nutrition, which contributes to higher yields and improved product quality.
