Description CAPRIZE
Potato Caprize — a medium-early table variety of German selection, distinguished by high yield and low maintenance requirements. The plant is of medium height, with upright or semi-upright stems, medium-sized leaves, and green coloration. Tubers are oval-shaped with small eyes, and both skin and flesh are yellow. The weight of marketable tubers ranges from 90 to 116 grams, with starch content between 13.4% and 16.6%. The variety is characterized by good taste and belongs to culinary type B, making it suitable for soups, frying, and processing into French fries. The maturation period for Caprize is 70–80 days after emergence, allowing for harvesting in the medium-early season. The potato exhibits high marketability — from 83% to 97% — and excellent storability, reaching up to 97%. Yield ranges from 205 to 336 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 409 centners, significantly exceeding standards of some other varieties. Caprize is resistant to drought and mechanical damage, facilitating cultivation under various climatic conditions and reducing losses during harvest. The variety shows high resistance to several diseases, including potato cancer, golden potato cyst nematode, crinkly and striped mosaic. It is moderately susceptible to late blight of foliage and tubers. Due to these qualities, Caprize is a reliable choice for gardeners and farmers seeking stable and high-quality yields. Despite some tubers having thin and fragile skins, the variety stores well under proper conditions, especially if selecting tubers with dense skins.
