RADA

The Rada pear variety is a medium-sized tree with a rounded, sparse crown, bred at the Crimea Experimental Station of Horticulture. This summer variety is distinguished by its high yield and stable fruiting, making it popular among gardeners and farmers. The tree has good resistance to winter conditions, scab, and leaf thermal burn, as well as partial self-fertility, which facilitates its cultivation and care.

Rada pear fruits are large, weighing 230 to 250 grams, short-pyriform in shape with a ribbed surface. Their flesh is creamy, melting, and oily, with an excellent sweet-and-sour taste. Fruits ripen in the first half of July; ripening is uneven, so it is recommended to consume them a few days after harvesting. Pears are well stored at temperatures around 0–5 degrees until October, which allows them to maintain their appearance and taste quality.

The Rada variety is characterized by early fruiting, with the first fruits appearing already in the 3rd-4th year after planting, including on GL rootstock. Due to late flowering, the pear is moderately resistant to spring frost. Despite high resistance to scab, the variety is susceptible to bacterial burn. In general, Rada pear is a highly commercial red-gold variety with excellent taste qualities and a good storage period, making it attractive for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
