ABAFET

The ABAFET pear variety is a high-yielding autumn variety of French selection, adapted for cultivation in the southern regions of Russia. The trees are medium-sized with a wide pyramidal or dense drooping canopy, which ensures ease of care and harvest. The variety is characterized by early fruiting and high yield, making it attractive for both personal holdings and industrial plantings. The fruits ripen in early September, allowing fresh pears to be obtained during the autumn period.

ABAFET pear fruits are large and very large, weighing up to 220 grams, with a classic bottle shape and a characteristic rough, rust-colored skin. The main fruit color is greenish-yellow with a tan and pink haze, giving them an attractive appearance. The flesh is creamy, tender, juicy and aromatic, with a pleasant sweet taste and a light spicy aftertaste. Sugar content reaches 10.3%, acidity is 0.4%, and vitamin C is 4.2 mg%, ensuring high taste qualities and nutritional value.

The ABAFET variety has good transportability and resistance to main fungal diseases such as scab and powdery mildew, which facilitates storage and transport of fruits. However, the variety has low frost resistance, so it is recommended for cultivation in southern regions with a mild climate. Flowering occurs in medium terms, and the variety is self-sterile, which requires the presence of pollinators for successful fruiting.
