Description Pridnistrovka
The pear Pridnistrovka, also known as Parisanka, is an old late-autumn French variety developed in 1868 by F. Fursin through crossing the varieties Sen-Germain Winter and Cure. This vigorous tree has a broad pyramidal crown of medium density and is suitable for cultivation in all climatic zones of Ukraine due to its good winter hardiness and high resistance to scab and powdery mildew. Seedlings are grafted onto two rootstocks: quince and wild pear, which affects the time of fruiting, size, and taste of the fruit. The fruit of the Pridnistrovka pear has a pear-shaped, elongated form and weighs from 160 to 220 grams, reaching 250–260 grams on trees grafted onto quince. Its color varies from greenish-yellow to bright red blush, the intensity of which depends on the amount of sunlight. The flesh is white, tender, juicy, oily-textured with a slight aroma, sweet with a barely noticeable acidity. Harvesting maturity occurs at the end of September to the beginning of October, while consumer ripeness is reached by the end of November–December, and the fruit retains its quality until February–March with proper storage. The Pridnistrovka pear is characterized by high yield — a mature tree can produce up to 80–90 kg of fruit per season. The fruits ripen simultaneously, practically do not drop, and have high transportability. Due to its taste qualities and long storage life, it is ideal for fresh consumption. The variety is valued for its early fruiting, disease resistance, and ability to retain excellent taste qualities for several months when stored in a cellar or refrigerator.
