Pirognom

Pirognom is a dwarfing rootstock used in three-component pear saplings. This variety serves as an important element for regulating tree canopy size and productivity, enabling the creation of long-lasting orchards — up to 60 to 80 years. Thanks to the combination of a rootstock providing necessary moisture and nutrients, and the dwarfing rootstock Pirognom, orchards function effectively even on challenging soils.

In most pear-growing regions, rootstocks are commonly used, which are characterized by good compatibility with pear varieties, frost resistance, and longevity. However, these rootstocks have vigorous growth and genetic heterogeneity, leading to delayed fruiting. To address these shortcomings during grafting, a less vigorous rootstock is used, such as the Pirognom variety. This dwarfing rootstock reduces the tree's growth vigor and accelerates fruiting onset, making the structure with a strong rootstock, a dwarfing rootstock, and a fruiting variety optimal for pear cultivation.

Pirognom pear saplings are available in various age categories and planting material options, including bare-root and more mature plants. This allows selecting the optimal option for specific conditions and planting goals. Using this variety as a rootstock contributes to creating highly productive and long-lasting orchards, adapted to the climatic and soil conditions of Ukraine.
