Holodryga Memorial is a late-maturing grape variety developed in Ukraine at NVI «Magarach» and patented under number 07386. It is intended for industrial cultivation and is widely used for the production of red table, fortified, and dessert wines. The grapes are characterized by intensely colored juice, which gives the wine a deep dark color with notes of cherry and aronia. Sugar accumulation ranges from 21 to 28 g/100 cm³, ensuring high quality raw materials for winemaking. Yield reaches up to 120 centners per hectare, with ripening occurring in the first half of October under full load, or at the end of September with a lower load.
The plant is characterized by medium or strong vigor, with a large vine and significant sucker formation. Leaves are large, varying in shape from three-lobed to five-lobed, while bunches are large, cylinder-conical, winged, and loose, weighing about 400 grams. Berries are oval, medium-sized, black, with firm flesh covered by pruina. The berry taste features noble notes of chocolate cherry and prune. The berry skin is thick, contributing to good preservation and juice quality.
The variety has high genetic resistance to fungal diseases and phylloxera, allowing it to be grown on its own roots. Frost hardiness is enhanced, reaching up to -23…-25°C. It is relatively resistant to downy mildew and gray rot, but requires complete protection from powdery mildew and is susceptible to anthracnose. Wine from this variety is characterized by increased acidity, which requires apple-malolactic fermentation and aging in oak barrels to achieve a harmonious taste and aroma.
