Sweet Emerald is a mid-season sugar vegetable pea variety distinguished by high yield and excellent taste. Plants reach a height of 45 to 70 cm and require staking for proper growth. The pods of this variety are long, light green, measuring 9 to 11 cm in length, with 7-9 large, very sweet and fleshy peas. An important feature is the absence of a parchment layer, which allows the peas to be eaten together with the pods, as well as using them for freezing and stewing.
The maturity period for the Sweet Emerald variety is approximately 52-60 days from germination to the beginning of harvest, making it suitable for early and mid-early cultivation. Plants begin to flower at a height of about 30 cm from the ground, and fruiting continues for a long time, allowing for harvest throughout the season. The variety has medium drought resistance and differs in a prolonged fruiting period, which makes it convenient for conveyor cultivation.
Sweet Emerald peas are a valuable dietary product rich in proteins, sugars, and vitamins. It is recommended to consume it fresh, as well as use it for canning and culinary processing. For sowing, seeds are planted in early spring on a sunny plot at a depth of 4-6 cm with an optimal soil temperature of 18-20 °C. Plants need support, and the sowing scheme is usually 15x30 cm. The yield of the variety reaches 0.7-1.2 kg per square meter, confirming its high productivity.
