Brigitte F1 Eggplant — a mid-early hybrid developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan, suitable for cultivation in open ground, under film coverings, and in greenhouses. The vegetation period ranges from 65 to 78 days, depending on growing conditions. The plant is robust, with spreading branches and dense foliage, reaching a height of up to 90 cm and requiring staking for better stability. The root system is strong, penetrating the soil to a depth of up to half a meter, which contributes to high stress resistance and good disease resistance.
The fruits of Brigitte F1 eggplant have an oval-cylindrical shape, measuring 18 to 22 cm in length and about 5.5–6 cm in diameter. The fruit weight varies from 200 to 450 grams, with cream-white flesh covered by a thin dark-purple skin. The hybrid is characterized by high productivity — up to 40 to 60 tons per hectare, with 8 to 12 fruits per plant. The fruits possess excellent flavor qualities, retain turgor for a long time, and do not lose taste during prolonged storage and transportation.
Cultivation of Brigitte F1 requires regular watering, weed control, and fertilization. The recommended planting density is 28–35 thousand plants per hectare. The hybrid tolerates sharp temperature fluctuations and adverse weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for various climatic zones. The primary use of the fruits is for home cooking, preservation, freezing, and commercial sale.
