NUBiP Breeding: Reliability in Every Bush

The 'Universytetska' currant is a result of years of dedicated breeding work by experts at the NUBiP of Ukraine. This black currant variety holds a significant position in the domestic horticultural sector, designed specifically to thrive within the regional climatic realities where pathogen resistance is a defining factor for overall profitability.

Agronomic Potential and Disease Resistance

The primary value of 'Universytetska' lies in its genetically determined hardiness. One of the key traits that distinguishes this variety from international imports is its strong resistance to septoria leaf spot. For commercial growers, this translates directly into reduced expenditure on fungicidal treatments and lower chemical inputs, which is essential for producing high-quality, eco-friendly berries.

Fruit Characteristics

Belonging to the black currant category, this variety produces berries with a deep, characteristic black color. The fruits are known for their uniformity, which facilitates efficient harvesting processes. Both the flavor profile and the biochemical composition make 'Universytetska' highly sought after for both the fresh market and the processing industry—ranging from deep freezing to the manufacturing of jams and juices.

Market Positioning

Developed by the NUBiP of Ukraine, this variety is the go-to solution for producers seeking reliable performance with a clear, proven pedigree. Unlike many imported hybrids that require extensive acclimatization, 'Universytetska' demonstrates stable yields under fluctuating climatic conditions. It is a professional-grade choice for those who value predictability, freedom from restrictive foreign licensing, and strong plant immunity.
